A 31-year-old Winter Garden man was killed in Orange County early Monday in a crash that left his car split in two, according to authorities.
The fatal crash occurred around 2:20 a.m. on eastbound State Road 536 near the Orange-Osceola county line.
Witnesses told the Florida Highway Patrol that they were leaving Disney World when a 2005 Nissan Maxima "flew past us like they were standing still."
The driver, whose name has not been released, lost control of the car, which split in two after striking two concrete pillars to the Interstate 4 overpass ramp, the FHP said.
The driver was killed instantly, troopers said.
The FHP initially believed there may have been another victim ejected in the crash, but there wasn't.
Eastbound lanes of World Center Drive near I-4 reopened around 6:15 a.m..
The FHP will continue to investigate and toxicology reports are pending.
