A man riding a scooter in Lake Mary early Thursday was struck and injured in a hit-and-run crash, according to police.

The crash happened before 1:15 a.m. on Rinehart Road just north of Manderley Run.

According to Lake Mary police, other drivers witnessed the crash from a distance and stopped to help the man.

The victim was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

A detailed description of the car involved in the crash was not known, but police said it's believed to be some sort of GM vehicle because a wheel well was found at the crash site.
