A 34-year-old woman walking along a Cocoa Beach roadway was struck by a vehicle and killed in a hit-and-run crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A passerby discovered the woman's body along State Road A1A near 33rd Street around 7:20 a.m. Wednesday and called authorities.

Troopers said it's not known how long the woman's body had been there but estimated that the crash happened sometime between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. Wednesday.

No other details, including the woman's name, have been released.

An investigation is ongoing.
