NCAA Game Summary - Louisiana Tech At Nevada

Reno, NV -- Ryan Moats exploded for three touchdowns and 199
yards rushing on 31 carries to lead the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs to a 42-34
victory over the Nevada Wolf Pack in a Western Athletic Conference shootout
from Mackay Stadium. Luke McCown completed 23-of-34 passes for 283 yards and two touchdowns for the
Bulldogs (4-4, 2-3 WAC), who have won two of their last three outings. Chance Kretschmer paced Nevada (5-3, 3-1) with 98 yards and two scores on 23
rushing attempts. Andy Heiser finished 18-of-36 for 315 yards through the air,
as the Wolf Pack had their two-game winning streak snapped. Nevada drew first blood in the contest, scoring on a two-yard run from B.J.
Mitchell at the 11:49 mark of the opening frame. Kretschmer added a one-yard
TD plunge late in the quarter, giving the Wolf Pack the 14-0 edge. Louisiana Tech cut into the deficit with a 24-yard field goal from Josh Scobee
early in the second stanza, but a 22-yard scoring scamper by Talib Wise just a
minute later gave Nevada a 21-3 cushion. The Bulldogs came on strong at the end of the quarter, scoring 10 straight
points to pull to within 14-13 at the half. Moats reached paydirt on a one-
yard run at the 6:54 mark, followed by a 39-yard Scobee field goal just before
the break. Louisiana Tech assumed control of the contest in the third quarter, opening
the half with a four-yard touchdown pass from McCown to D.J. Curry and a
successful two-point conversion to tie the game. Moats then reached the end
zone on another one-yard run, giving the Bulldogs a 28-21 advantage. The Wolf Pack answered with eight seconds to play in the third, knotting the
game at 28-28 on a five-yard run from Mitchell. Nevada took the lead back early in the fourth quarter on a six-yard TD run
from Kretschmer, but a missed extra-point attempt left the score at 34-28. Louisiana Tech responded quickly, taking a 35-34 edge on a 30-yard scoring
strike from McCown to Tramissian Davis. With 6:13 left in regulation, Moats
put the final nail in Nevada's coffin by scoring his third TD of the game on a
69-yard touchdown burst. Shawn Piper hauled in a game-high eight receptions for 61 yards for Louisiana
Tech, while Davis snagged four balls for 92 yards. Nevada was led on the receiving end by Tim Fleming, who racked up 125 yards on
four catches.
