It's time for 'Back-to-School Drive'

Over 200,000 children need your help

ORLANDO, Fla. – It's time for News 6 partnership with A Gift For Teaching during the annual Back-to-School Drive campaign.

Many Central Florida businesses have jumped on board to hold supply drives in their workplace. People have volunteered their time to help stuff backpacks. It's time to get involved and help children start their school year prepared to learn.

There are three simple ways to help this effort.

  • You can spread the word and tell others about the campaign by using social media such as Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Get people to the Gift for Teaching website and help support the cause.
  • You can host a drive. Get your team together and collect supplies up to Sept. 16, 2016.
  • Make a donation. Just $1 can provide up to $10 worth of supplies for children in need.

Over 210,000 students need help with back-to-school supplies essential to learn and achieve.

Remember that tax-free shopping is August 5-7. Back-to-school supplies $15 or less per item are tax-free so it's a great time to stock up for our children heading back to school.

You can go to any Starbucks in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties (until Sept. 5) or any CFE Credit Unions in the central Florida area.

WKMG News 6 will host an all-day telethon on Aug. 18. Call 888-436-6665 and make a gift over the phone. For every dollar A Gift for Teaching raises during the telethon, The Bond Foundation will match dollar-for-dollar.
