Millions of knives recalled after customers cut with broken blades

Calphalon receives 27 reports of injuries

Calphalon is pulling more than 2 million knives off shelves after the company received dozens of complaints from injured customers, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The blade on the Contemporary Cutlery knife can break during use and pose a laceration risk.

The company received 27 reports of finger or hand cuts from the recalled knives, including four injuries that required stitches. Another 3,150 customers filed reports of broken knives.

The recalled knives were sold from September 2008 through December 2016 for $25 for a single knife to $300 for a knife block set at JCPenney, Kohl’s, Macy’s and other stores nationwide and online at Amazon.com.

Anyone with a defective knife should stop using the cutlery immediately  and contact Calphalon for a replacement.
