Oviedo High School Teacher Resigns Amid Allegations

OVIEDO, Fla. -- An Oviedo High School teacher resigned on Wednesday amid allegations that she provided alcohol to students, one of whom borrowed her car and was charged with DUI following a crash, according to authorities.
Meredith Witt, an exceptional student education teacher who has been with the Seminole County School District since 2001, told the principal of Oviedo High School that she had students at her house on Monday night and gave them alcoholic beverages, the district said.
One of the students borrowed her vehicle and was involved in a crash, according to the Seminole County School District.
According to Oviedo police, Dylan Harper Ferguson, 18, was arrested and charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident Monday night.
Witt was immediately suspended with pay but resigned on Wednesday, the district said.
The district said it is continuing its investigation and will forward the findings to a state organization in regard to Witt's teaching certificate.
According to Witt's Facebook page, she's 32 years old and married. According to her Facebook page, Witt teaches students with disabilities, geometry and U.S. history at Oviedo High School.
