Report: Alcohol Accidentally Served To Students

Alcohol Now Banned On Campus

POSTED: Wednesday, September 29, 2004
UPDATED: 3:22 pm EDT September 29, 2004

The Alexandria Country Day School in Alexandria, Va. sent a letter home with third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students, telling parents that tequila and margarita mix was served accidentally to some of their children.

The Washington Post reported that a pitcher was left in the refrigerator after a staff party two days earlier. School employees who served the alcohol from the school's kitchen reportedly believed it was limeade.

After receiving the alcohol, students said it smelled and tasted strange. Sources told WRC-TV in Washington, D.C., that students only consumed small amounts of the margaritas before the mistake was discovered.

The school's principal said liquor has now been banned on campus. All future faculty parties will be held off school grounds.
