Police Say Clemson Student Stole Credit Card To Pay Tuition

Clemson University Reviewing Incident

POSTED: Friday, April 29, 2005
UPDATED: 2:52 pm EDT April 29, 2005

It's not uncommon for credit cards to be stolen, but what police say a man did with one might seem a bit unusual.

Clemson University police arrested Clemson student Sanwaun Levar Jones, of Columbia, S. C., on April 28 on two felony charges of credit card theft and credit card fraud.

Warrants alleged that Jones, a junior in general engineering, used a stolen credit card to make a $3,965 payment for spring semester tuition.

Jones was arraigned and released on a personal recognizance bond.

The allegations are under review by the university's judicial services office.
