SANFORD, Fla. – Despite a last-minute plea from parents, hundreds of Seminole County students will soon be moving to new schools.

The school board voted 4-1 Monday to approve a rezoning plan, The move will send about 600 students to Longwood Elementary, which is slated to reopen in August after it underwent a multi-million-dollar renovation.
The school district said the move was necessary because of overcrowding at other schools.
The change will take affect in the fall.
