Seminole, Volusia teachers fight for higher wages

Teachers hold pay protest

SANFORD, Fla. – Teachers in two Central Florida counties are fighting to get raises, and they're taking their battle to their respective school boards.

Seminole County teachers protested Tuesday night outside the administration building in Sanford.

District leaders are offering raises of just over 2 percent, but the teacher's union wants wages to increase about 6 percent.

Volusia County teachers are in a similar battle after the district declared a dead end in contract talks on Tuesday.

Teachers are asking for a 3 percent raise, but they say district officials won't negotiate.

Union representatives are now asking for a special judge to help sort things out.
