(CNN) -

Chris Harrison has picked up plenty of experience as a reality show host thanks to his duties on ABC's 'The Bachelor" and its spin-off, "The Bachelorette."

"Initially I was hoping it would stay on the air for a few episodes because no one ever knows if something will resonate or not," he told CNN. "But it has had this unbelievable run and has lasted a decade."

"The Bachelor" returns on January 2, and with it comes another season of drama, tears and surprises. Otherwise known as exactly what die-hard fans want. "Ben [Flajnik, the new 'Bachelor'] is great...It's an amazing ride for our show and probably one of the best," said Harrison.

This season, like the ones before, will have 26 contestants - including one much older woman. Harrison tells us there's also "a girl during the first two nights [who] comes off as emotional." (But if you've seen the show, that's a familiar scenario.)

Even after so many years, "The Bachelor" is often one of the most anticipated reality shows of the season, and Harrison thinks he knows why: "It's escapism, and something everybody wants, which is a relationship," he explained. "Because everybody wants love and we enjoy seeing it."

If he could pick celebrities to be on those shows, he says he'd go with George Clooney and Jennifer Aniston.

"He is the ultimate and most unattainable bachelor...and I think Jennifer Aniston has been so troubled in love, so she would be a perfect candidate," he said.

Keep dreaming Harrison, but wouldn't that make for excellent TV!
