CBS announces summer, fall programs

New and returning programs now scheduled

NEW YORK – The television networks announced their fall schedules, which includes new and returning programs, last week.

The upfronts were held in New York last week. All of the broadcast networks and cable networks announced their fall lineups with new and returning shows to advertisers.

Les Moonves, president and CEO of CBS Corp. spoke to advertisers on Wednesday, announcing the fall television schedule that has now been set for CBS.

Moonves announced that CBS was going bigger with comedies by adding three new multicamera comedies and creating two-hour comedy blocks for Mondays and Thursdays.

One of the CBS shows from this year, Supergirl, is flying over to sister network; The CW, in the same time period it had on CBS. The CW is co-owned by CBS and Warner Brothers.

Here are the new shows coming to CBS, in fall 2016.

NEW COMEDIES

KEVIN CAN WAIT –Stars Kevin James (returning to CBS after a successful run on “The King of Queens”) as a newly retired police officer looking forward to spending carefree, quality time with his wife and three kids, only to discover he faces tougher challenges at home than he ever did on the streets.

MAN WITH A PLAN -  A comedy about a contractor, played by Matt LeBlanc, who starts spending more time with his kids when his wife goes back to work and discovers the truth every parent eventually realizes: their little angels are maniacs.

THE GREAT INDOORS - Stars Joel McHale in a comedy about a renowned adventure reporter for an outdoor magazine who must adapt to the times when he becomes the deskbound boss to a group of millennials in the digital department of the publication.

NEW DRAMAS

BULLStars Michael Weatherly as Dr. Jason Bull in a drama inspired by the early career of Dr. Phil McGraw, the founder of one of the most prolific trial consulting firms of all time. MACGYVER -  A reimagining of the classic series. An action-adventure drama about 20-something Angus “Mac” MacGyver, who creates a clandestine organization within the U.S. government where he uses his extraordinary talent for unconventional problem-solving and vast scientific knowledge to save lives.

NEW SHOWS FOR SUMMER

 

BRAINDEAD -  From the creators of THE GOOD WIFE comes the newest summer sensation. BRAINDEAD is an eerie, funny, completely original comic thriller set in the hallowed halls of Washington, D.C., politics. When a young documentary filmmaker reluctantly returns to her family’s political roots to work on the hill, she discovers that the federal government has stopped working. AMERICAN GOTHIC -  Rich, powerful, respected—they were the perfect family. Or so it seemed. AMERICAN GOTHIC is a new 13-part summer series, rife with intrigue and suspense, about a prominent Boston family dealing with the chilling discovery linking their recently deceased patriarch to a decadeslong string of murders. As more secrets are revealed, suspicion mounts that one of his heirs may have been an accomplice. This realization threatens to tear the family apart...if it doesn’t kill them first.
