ORLANDO, Fla. -- Central Floridians will have another chance to get free flu shots Thursday.
All 17 Centra Care locations are offering free shots to the first 50 people who arrive.
Wednesday, Local 6 partnered with Centra Care to give out thousands of vaccines in Kissimmee.
The current recommendation for flu shots is for children 6 months old to 5 years old.
However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention wants to push the recommended age for shots to include everyone 18 years old and younger because the group is often at risk for serious illness caused by the flu, Local 6 reported.
Doctors said the best way to avoid the flu is to get a flu shot.
"It is one of those things that if you are going to prevent it, you got to prevent it now in October or November and get your flu shot because you never know how bad it is going to be in January, February or March," Dr. Scott Brady said.
Wednesday's flu shot event was held from noon to 6 p.m. at the new Hunter's Creek Central Care on Greenwald Way North in Kissimmee.
