SAN DIEGO -- The Wrigley chewing-gum company hopes a new product may someday give men the same benefits as Viagra.

Wrigley has received a patent to make a gum that would include the same drug found in the the famous blue-pill stimulant. One stick of gum would contain about the same as one pill.
A man would have to chew the gum for about two minutes, and ingesting the drug that way would be gentler on the stomach than pills.
The gum won't be available any time soon however, because Wrigley still needs FDA approval.
Wrigley hopes to put the gum on the market until 2011, which is when the patent on Viagra runs out and other companies can manufacture generic alternatives.
