Regulating sugar like alcohol and tobacco
Scientist say sugar is deadly in high enough does
A group of experts say sugar is a toxin and should be regulated just like alcohol or tobacco.
Robert Lustig, a pediatrician at the University of California, brands sugar a "toxin", deadly enough in high enough doses that it should be regulated just like alcohol in the latest issue of the journal, "Nature."
Lustig says sugar has a metabolic effect on the body that can lead to a host of chronic illnesses.
The experts believe sugar should be taxed, like tobacco, to motivate people to consume less.
