ORLANDO, Fla. -

A 27-year-old man was critically injured and a toddler suffered serious injuries early Friday when an Oviedo woman apparently fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into their vehicle, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Robenson Royal, of Orlando, and the child were traveling south on John Young Parkway when a car driven by 24-year-old Luisa Fernanda Martinez hit their car head-on, troopers said.

The crash happened around 3 a.m. on John Young Parkway near Magic Way in Orlando.

According to the FHP, Martinez was traveling north in the southbound lane after she apparently fell asleep while driving.

The front of her Nissan Maxima struck the front of Royal's Toyota Avalon.

Royal was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition.  The girl was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital.

Martinez suffered minor injuries and was taken to ORMC.  She was cited for careless driving.
