Meijer Recalls Children's Jackets, Sweatshirts
Company Receives No Reports Of Injuries
Meijer Distribution Inc., of Grand Rapids, Mich., says the jackets' zippers can come off and pose a choking hazard to small children. And the sweatshirts have drawstrings that could catch on playground equipment, fences or tree branches, which could entangle childen.
The company has not received any reports of injuries.
The Kids Falls Creek PU jackets (pictured, left) were sold in various colors for boys and girls. Girls' sizes include 2T through 5T, 4 through 7 and 8 through 19. Boys sizes include 2T through 5T, 4 through 6X and 7/8 through 16. A label inside the jacket reads, "Authentic Falls Creek."
The fleece sweatshirts (pictured, right) were sold in children's sizes 4 to 18 under the brand name "Emergency Exit." The sweatshirts come in a variety of colors including red, blue, gray and black. Each sweatshirt has an image on the chest of either a tribal design, dragon, motocross or skateboarding pattern.
Meijer retail stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois sold the jackets from August 2003 to December 2003 for about $30 and the sweatshirts from August 2003 to January 2004 for between $20 and $22.
