A 24-year-old man was arrested Wednesday night for allegedly beating his girlfriend for 90 minutes with a metal pole and a bottle, according to police.
Investigators said Clifford Cauthen held his 20-year-old girlfriend against her will and hit her with the items inside a home in the 3500 block of Fox Hollow Drive in Titusville, Fla.
When Cauthen left for work, she called for help, police said.
The woman was treated at Parrish Medical Center in Titusville for severe bruising and welts over most of her body, according to the report.
Cauthen was booked into the Brevard County Jail in Sharpes, charged with kidnapping, aggravated battery and resisting arrest.
The suspect has been arrested twice before for similar incidents, Local 6 News partner
Florida Today reported. Cauthen is on probation for false imprisonment and aggravated battery involving a different victim.
Cauthen has an extensive arrest record, including kidnapping, robbery, aggravated battery and assault, according to Titusville police spokesman Sgt. Todd Hutchinson.
Officers investigating this case described it as one of the worst domestic violence cases they have seen.
