A grand jury has been convened at the Orange County Courthouse to consider issues of potential election fraud in the on-going battle over the Orlando mayor's race, sources tell Local 6 News.
In June, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement confiscated computers from Orlando City Hall.
The two main issues the FDLE is investigating are claims of fraudulent absentee ballot voting. And allegations that Mayor Buddy Dyer paid fire fighters from city funds to campaign for his March election.
Mayoral contender, Ken Mulvaney's allegation that ballots were fraudulently obtained for Dyer prompted the original investigation into the mayor's close win, Local 6 News reported.
The investigation was expanded to include claims the firefighters were illegally campaigning for Dyer on the taxpayers dime.
The 21 member Grand Jury is not expected to return a decision Tuesday and only a portion of the case is expected to be presented to them, Local 6 News reported.
Most likely, proceedings will wrap up later this month, according to the report.
The findings could result in a sealed indictment or they could admonish all of the parties of any wrong-doing.
