ORLANDO, Fla. -- A Central Florida father faces attempted murder charges Monday after allegedly ramming his car into another vehicle his daughter was traveling in, according to Local 6 News.
Pnunoc Nguyen's daughter reportedly decided to defy her father and get into a vehicle with an unlicensed driver on Twin Lakes Road in Longwood, Fla., Local 6 News reported.
Investigators said Nguyen drove his gold sedan into a sport utility vehicle driven by his daughter's friend to apparently try to stop the pair from leaving.
"It appears that the father just plain lost it and gunned his vehicle right into the side of his daughter's friend, seriously hurt his daughter's friend and his daughter in the process," Seminole County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Olson said.
Nguyen was arrested after the collision.
The driver of the vehicle, Jessica Welch, 15, suffered lung injuries, a ruptured spleen and injuries to her pelvis and collar bone in the crash. She was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center but her condition was not known.
Nguyen's daughter was also injured in the crash.
The man was charged with attempted first-degree murder because investigators said the act was pre-mediated, Local 6 News reported.
