A controversial Florida-based Web site allows scorned women to post warnings about cheating men to help other women, a Problem Solvers report revealed.
The report featured Amy Echevarria, who said she believed a recent boyfriend was her perfect match.
"Our relationship in the beginning was great; it was awesome, I mean, I couldn't ask for anything better," Echevarria said.
However, she said things began to sour.
"(He) didn't want to be around me anymore and wanted to go out with his friends all the time," Echevarria said. "(He) didn't want to be home."
Echevarria suspected her boyfriend was cheating and broke up with him. However, she then put out a warning to other women via a new Web site called
dontdatehimgirl.com.
The Web site was created by Miami resident Tasha Joseph.
"Any woman out there can post a picture and profile of a guy who's cheated on them and it goes into a massive search engine," Joseph said.
Hundreds of men, listed by name and city, are profiled on the site with photos.
The site does not allow men to register, but they can argue the claims, the report said.
"So, if you look up John Smith you can see what a woman says about John Smith and you can see whatever John Smith says about whatever was posted," Joseph said.
Joseph said the site is a public service to women trying to navigate the treacherous world of dating.
However, some of the men on the site may call it an invasion of privacy, the report said.
"There is all sorts of information out there, just like this and everybody just sort of shrugs their shoulders," FIU professor Howard Wasserman said.
Wasserman said women who post information on the site should be warned.
"The burden of proof is on the defendant to show that the statements were true," Wasserman said.
The report found that the women on the site do not use their own names when posting information about the men.
Some of the men have reportedly threatened to sue over the posts on the Web site, Local 6 News reported.
