Hornets Hope To Get Healthy Vs. Clippers

(Sports Network) - A reeling New Orleans team will finish a two-day tour of Staples Center Monday aiming to earn its 10th straight win over the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Hornets were waxed in the same building on Sunday when Kobe Bryant had 28 points -- 26 in a strong first half -- to lead the short-handed Los Angeles Lakers in a 104-88 drubbing of New Orleans.

The Lakers were without star big men Pau Gasol (hamstring) and Andrew Bynum (elbow).

Chris Paul had 15 points and nine assists for the Hornets, who have fallen to 2-5 to start the season.

David West added 11 points in the loss, while James Posey, Emeka Okafor and Devin Brown each had 10 points. Okafor added 14 rebounds.

"We have to do a better job with team defense," Brown said. "We have to come out and not put ourselves in a hole at the beginning of the game."

The Clips, meanwhile, earned their third straight win Saturday when Chris Kaman led a balanced attack with 26 points and nine rebounds, as the team held on for a 113-110 victory over Memphis.

Craig Smith was a spark off the bench with 18 points, and Rasual Butler ended with 17 points and seven rebounds in the Clippers' third straight win following a four-game skid to open the season.

Eric Gordon and Baron Davis each chipped in 15 points to go with six and five assists, respectively.

"We didn't play with energy at the beginning of the game," Butler said. "We played with a lot more intensity and effort in the second half."

The Hornets, who are 0-4 on the road, are aiming to avoid their first three- game skid since dropping four consecutive from Jan. 30-Feb. 4. on last season.
