Mitchell Hammock Road was closed between State Road 426 and Alafaya Trail for most of the morning on Tuesday. It has since been reopened, but traffic was moving slow early Tuesday afternoon.

Oviedo Utilities said it received an alarm around 4 a.m. about the break, which was located across from Miller's Ale House near Norma Avenue.

About a dozen businesses were without water because of the break, but no residents were affected. The water has since been restored with any advisories to boil water.

Officials said a 36-inch water main feeds the area, but a smaller line was likely ruptured.  The cause of the break is under investigation.

Motorists were diverted in the area, but commuters using Broadway Street and Chapman Road as alternate routes still encountered major backups.
