ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -

Seminole County deputies arrested a man who they say fired shots in Alatamonte Springs on Friday morning.

Nicholas Joy, 19, has been charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, fleeing police, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.

Deputies said the shooting was reported at 10:30 a.m. on Jackson Street. Witnesses told deputies they saw shots fired from a silver Chevy Impala, later determined to have been driven by Joy. Joy then drove away from deputies down Oxford Road and crashed into the woods.

Joy then ran away and tossed out a gun.

English Estates Elementary was placed on a temporary lockdown as Joy was found and arrested just before 11 a.m. on North Carrolwood Boulevard.

No injuries were reported in the shooting.
