1 dead, 1 in critical condition after Port Orange crash, police say

POPD: Two vehicles collide on New Year's Eve

PORT ORANGE, Fla. – One person died and another was in critical condition after a two-vehicle crash in Port Orange Saturday night, Port Orange police said.

Police responded to the 1700 block of Dunlawton Avenue around 8:30 p.m.

A Dodge was traveling west on Dunlawton Avenue while a Honda was traveling east on Dunlawton Avenue, according to the police report. 

The driver of the Honda attempted to make a left turn in front of the Dodge, causing the two cars to collide, police said.

Upon their arrival, officers said the driver and passenger of the Honda had suffered serious injuries from the crash. The driver was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Police said the passenger was pronounced dead on scene by fire rescue crews.

The driver of the Dodge was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries, Port Orange police said.

No other details on the condition of either of the drivers were available.
