1 dead, 2 injured in triple motorcycle crash in Lake County, FHP says

Motorcyclists were riding in group before crash, troopers say

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – One man is dead and two others were injured in a crash involving a group of motorcyclists in Eustis, troopers said.

The group was riding east on County Road 44-A at Thrill Hill Road around 11:45 a.m. when the crash happened, the Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said one motorcyclist was falling behind the group and tried to catch up, but failed to slow down and ran into the motorcycle in front of him. The impact caused the second motorcyclist to hit the back of a third motorcycle in front of him, troopers said.

Troopers said the first motorcyclist, Travis Detrick, 37, of DeBary, died at the scene and the second motorcyclist was taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital for his injuries. The third motorcyclist received minor injuries, but was not hospitalized, troopers said.
