NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – A man is dead and three others were hurt Thursday after a car crashed into a hospital in New Smyrna Beach.

Police said the first call came into 911 around 1:30 p.m. about a car crashing into a medical center.
According to preliminary reports, 78-year-old Janet Spurgeon drove a Chevy Malibu into the Coronado Medical office building.
Police said three of the people hurt were inside the lobby at the time of the crash.
Edmond Kestory, 63, was airlifted to Halifax Medical Center under a trauma alert, where police said he later died.
George Snyder, 76, was taken to Halifax Medical Center also under a trauma alert. Police said 88-year-old Florence Hopko was treated and released from Bert Fish Medical Center.
Spurgeon was treated and released from Bert Fish Medical Center, police said.
The two-story structure, which police said is the Coronado Medical Center office building owned by the Bert Fish Medical Center, was damaged significantly and will be closed until at least Feb. 11.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
