At least one person has died in an accident involving a taxi cab on State Road 528 in Orange County early Wednesday morning, authorities say.
Orlando police said at just after 2:30 a.m., the driver of a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria with a Big Apple Taxi sign on it was driving southbound on South Semoran Boulevard, entering the on-ramp for on westbound SR 528 when it suddenly flipped on its side and hit a palm tree.
Police said say the driver was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the cab and died on the scene.
Witnesses told Local 6 they believe the cab was driving too fast, causing it to lose control.
"i just heard tire screeches heading from the west and when I looked the car was in the air and hit the palm tree," a witness said.
The driver's identity hasn't been released.
The crash remains under investigation, but no charges will be filed, police said.
