1 found dead in Ocala house fire

Dog rescued from burning home

OCALA, Fla. – A person was found dead inside an Ocala home after it caught fire Tuesday night.

Ocala Fire Rescue said flames were shooting through the roof when crews responded to the home, which is located in the 1300 block of SE 14th Street.

Firefighters said they encountered heavy smoke and a portion of the roof collapsed when they arrived on scene.

After searching the home, firefighters found the body of an unidentified person.

Neighbors said one person was able to make their way inside the home and rescue a dog before firefighters arrived.

The fire marshal will investigate the cause of the fire.
