ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 10-year-old boy who nearly drowned Sunday afternoon is alive thanks to the quick thinking of a vacationing nurse, according to deputies.
Deputies said about 4:30 p.m., the boy was swimming and playing with other children at the Orange Lake Resort near Kissimmee when suddenly the other children began yelling for help after they noticed the boy stopped breathing.
According to investigators, that's when a nurse on vacation from Ohio ran toward the boy and gave him CPR, reviving him before an ambulance could get to the scene.
The child was rushed to Celebration Hospital, where deputies said he'd be kept overnight for observation but was recovering.
Deputies tell Local 6 the boy was with family who were visiting from Miami. They did not release the child's name.
