Authorities in Volusia County, Fla., are searching for a group of six to eight gun-wielding men who stormed into a DeLeon Springs, Fla., home Saturday and kidnapped a 7-year-old boy when they did not find drugs or money, according to police.
Investigators said the group of black men entered the home on 5721 West Street and held the family inside at gunpoint early Saturday.
When the family said they did not have cash or drugs, a woman, her son and two grandparents were tied up and their home was ransacked.
When the men did not find anything, they grabbed the boy and fled.
A family member was able to break free after the group left and called 911.
A short time later, the boy was found unharmed by a worker in DeBary and returned to his family. There were no serious injuries to the family.
Investigators were not able to obtain detailed descriptions of the kidnappers, but did get some information about their vehicle. It is believed to be a white, full-sized van, possibly an early 2000s Dodge, with no windows on the side like a cargo work van. The inside of the van was painted black.
Anyone with information concerning this crime is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
