Police in Cocoa, Fla., are searching for a man who held a gun to the head of an 8-year-old girl as he robbed her mother at a motel, according to police.
Investigators said the woman and young girl were returning to their room at the Best Western in Cocoa, Fla., early Wednesday when an unknown man followed them inside.
"Armed with a handgun, he put it to the 8-year-old's head and demanded money," Local 6's Donald Forbes said.
"They were waiting for mom's fiance to come into town to move into their new apartment and a gentleman comes up from behind them, forces them into the room and frightens them and takes their money," Brevard County sheriff's representative Nicholas Walker said.
"And points a gun at the young girl's head?" Forbes asked.
"Yes, he forced her to the ground with a gun to the back of her head, demanding money," Walker said.
After the man took the mother's credit cards, he fled the scene.
The pair described the man as being 6 feet tall with facial scars and badly chapped lips.
Anyone with information concerning the man is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
