TITUSVILLE, Fla. -- A double murder-suicide in Brevard County Thursday morning led police to an alleged crime involving a Titusville elementary school teacher.
Heather Jean Ovalles, a third-grade teacher at Oak Park Elementary School, was arrested and jailed on suspicion of running a major marijuana growing operation, according to police.
Ovalles is a possible ex-girlfriend of a man who police said committed suicide Thursday morning after shooting and killing two other men at The Great Outdoors Resort in a domestic-violence incident.
Police said they recovered 56 marijuana plants from Ovalles' house on Birchwood Lane. One room was equipped with special lights and ventilation, according to a police report.
Police said that Ovalles was growing and maintaining the marijuana with the intent to sell the marijuana.
Three handguns, including a .44-caliber Magnum and .45 semi-automatic, were recovered from Ovalles' bedroom, according to police.
