POSTED: Saturday, January 6, 2007
A Melbourne Police K-9 helped officers nab a suspected burglar at a Central Floridal shoe store Saturday, according to Local 6 News partner Florida Today.
Jimmy Williams, 48, is being held on a burglary charge stemming from his arrest at the House of Shoes in the 130 block of Cypress Ave. just after 2 a.m. He was also charged with posession of burglary tools and criminal mischief.
Police, responding to a burglary alarm, found the rear door of the store had been pried open, and saw someone inside the business.
A K-9 officer was used to assist the officers as they entered the store, where they found a man tucked up on top of shoe shelves attempting to conceal himself, police reports said.
A search of the man uncovered needle-nose pliers, a flat-head screwdriver, flashlight and a plastic glove on his left hand.
Williams was transported to Melbourne Police Department, where he was booked and turned over to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.
