A hooded sweat shirt left behind during the theft of a police officer's gun in Oviedo, Fla., may be the key to catching the culprit, according to authorities.
Investigators said a semiautomatic handgun, ammunition, handcuffs and a police gun belt was stolen from an unmarked police vehicle in December while it was parked at a home located in the area of Terrace Drive and Citrus Avenue in Oviedo.
When the vehicle was discovered burglarized, a zip front fleece Billabong sweat shirt was found caught in the closed car door and hanging outside.
The culprit apparently snagged the hoodie in the car door while in an attempt to leave the area in a hurry.
Anyone who recognizes the clothing or knows anything about the incident is urged to call Crime.
