$109,000 worth of cash, jewelry stolen from Ocala home

OCALA, Fla. – A Tiffany jewel-encrusted lion head, antique coins and a $10,000 watch were among some of the high-value items stolen from an Ocala home Wednesday, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said two men stole a total of $109,250 in cash, jewelry and other items while the homeowners were away. The burglary was caught on surveillance video, but the men responsible have not been caught or identified.

A neighbor called police around 1 p.m. Wednesday after the homeowner called and asked her to check on his residence. When she arrived, she found the front door open.

There were no signs of forced entry, but deputies did find scuff marks on the floor and the master bedroom in a state of disarray.

When the victim arrived at his house, he told deputies that most of his and his wife's belongings had been taken. 

He said the following items were missing:

A 24-count sterling silver Rapalla by Lunt dining set worth $40,000
A Tiffany's lion head statue made of emeralds and rubies worth $15,000 
22 count gold $20 coins dated from 1800s to early 1900s worth $10,000
A men's Corum gold watch worth $10,000
$12,000 in cash in $100's, $50s and $20s
A gray Hayhan safe worth $700
75 count Indian head one cent coins from the 1800s worth $750
20 count $1 silver pieces worth $800
Miscellaneous gold jewelry worth $20,000
The homeowners' birth certificates and passports

Detectives are looking for two men who were seen on surveillance video inside the home at the time of the robbery.
