2nd Mystery Ice Chunk Falls From Sky In Central Florida

Softball-Sized Piece Of Ice Grazes Man

POSTED: Thursday, February 1, 2007
UPDATED: 5:18 pm EST February 1, 2007

For the second time in four days, a chunk of ice mysteriously plummeted to Earth in Central Florida.

A softball-sized piece of ice fell in Daytona Beach on Wednesday morning, grazing Mike Rene on his head and right arm.

Rene, of Ormond Beach, was working at the Eagles Watch Cluster nursing and convalescent home on Fifth Street in Daytona Beach when he was struck.

Rene was not seriously injured.

A larger piece of ice fell out of the sky above Tampa on Sunday, crushing the roof and breaking the rear window of a 2000 Ford Mustang.

It's not known where either ice chunk came from, although many people believe that they may have fallen off airplanes.
