ORLANDO, Fla. -- A 20-year-old man involved in SWAT team standoff dug through an apartment floor and held a mother and daughter hostage before being taken into custody, according to Local 6 News.
Authorities said Eton Williams holed himself inside a unit at the Brittany Bay apartments located near Lee Road and Orange Blossom Trail Thursday when officers tried to serve a warrant for an attempted murder charge.
During the standoff with police, Williams, who was on the third floor of the apartment building, burrowed to the second floor.
"When he dropped down to the second floor and moved over, there was a woman and her daughter in that apartment," Orlando police Sgt. Barbara Jones said. "So, there was a temporary, if you want to call it, hostage situation."
The woman and child escaped without injury, police said.
Hostage negotiators were able to talk Williams out of the apartment Thursday night.
A neighbor said Williams was expecting the police.
"I heard himself saying, 'If I go out, everyone is going to go out,'" a neighbor said. "(And) that he is not going to go out without a fight."
Williams faces several charges in connection with the incident.
