11-year-old girl faces arson charge after Palm Coast fire
Deputies say she may have started fire in wooded lot with lighter
Flagler County deputies may charge an 11-year-old girl with arson after they say she may have started a fire in a wooded lot Saturday evening.
Police and firemen arrived at 123 Pine Grove Drive around 6:42 p.m. and quickly extinguished a blaze they say was about 15 feet in diameter and 20 feet high.
Deputies say that the father believes his daughter may have used a lighter from their garage to start the fire with other neighborhood children.
"We appreciate this girl’s father getting involved by letting us know what may have happened," Sheriff James L. Manfre said. "Our hope is that this child and the other children involved will get counseling on the dangers of their actions."
