Photo Released In Rape Case

POSTED: Wednesday, February 14, 2007
UPDATED: 6:54 am EST February 15, 2007

Police released a photo of a man wanted in connection with the attack and rape of a woman inside her Orlando condominium early Wednesday.

Investigators said the victim was surprised at 1 a.m. Wednesday by a man standing inside her Tradewinds condo located at the corner of Hiawassee Road and Raleigh Street in MetroWest.

Investigators were not sure how the man gained entry to the home.

"They don't know how he got in," Local 6's Tiffany Tift reported. "There is no sign of forced entry. This is a horrifying experience."

Police said after the woman was attacked, the man forced her into a car and the pair went to a bank ATM.

He later dropped her off near her MetroWest apartment where she ran to a restaurant for help, the report said.

Wednesday, police bloodhounds led officers to the woman's abandoned car and then back to the condo.

The culprit was last seen in a 2002 blue Acura with the license tag H89 5BB.

"It is a horrible experience," Orlando police Sgt. Lori Shepard said. "We are doing everything we can to find the suspect."

Police gave a warning to women living alone in Orlando.

"You know, when you come home and see something is askew or you feel uncomfortable, you need to trust your instincts" Shepard said. "Women need to trust their instincts and step out of their apartment and call a neighbor, call a friend or call the police, and we will come and check it out for you."

Anyone with information concerning this crime is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
