ORLANDO, Fla. -- Police are asking for the public's help in finding a tailgating motorist who opened fire on two women driving on Interstate 4 in Orange County, Fla., in an apparent case of road rage, according to a Local 6 News report.
The women, who said they were too afraid to be identified, were driving on I-4 this week near the Maitland Boulevard Exit at about 60 mph when they noticed a man driving close behind their vehicle, police said.
"He was following me very close behind the car," the woman said. "And after two minutes I just heard the shot."
A bullet shattered a right passenger-side window.
"We could've been dead because if the gun shot didn't stop it was going to (hit) my friend," the woman said.
The women said they stopped on the Maitland exit and saw the man wave a gun out of his driver's side window as if he was ready to fire a second time, Local 6's Jessica D'Onofrio reported.
The man then drove away, the women said.
Local 6 aired a 911 call from the women:
"We're almost at exit 90-B," the victim said.
"That's where the shooting took place?" the dispatcher said.
"Yes," the victim said.
"Did they shoot at your vehicle?" the dispatcher said.
"Yes," the victim said.
"Are they gone?" the dispatcher said.
Authorities said the vehicle involved in the incident was a black Chrysler 300.
Anyone with information concerning this crime is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
