SANFORD, Fla. -- A Seminole High School female teacher has been placed on paid leave after female students claimed that she touched them inappropriately, fondled them and showed them nude pictures on a computer.
Ruen Marie Beane, 30, a math teacher and cheerleading coach at the school, has not been charged but is being investigated by Sanford police after at least three students made the allegations.
"Of course this accusation is very serious in nature," Cleo Cohen of the Sanford Police Department said. "We're currently interviewing students from the school and seeing if there are any more students that we need to bring in (who) are witnesses to these incidents."
Local 6 News reported that Beane didn't show up for an interview with police but instead received a phone call from her attorney.
Local 6 News also reported that an investigation involving school administrators may take place because, according to the police report, one student said she told four school administrators in September about Beane's alleged behavior and nothing was done.
"There is a responsibility, of course, for the staff at the school to report an incident. At this point, we're looking into what exactly the students reported," Cohen said.
Local 6 News reported that Beane could face two felony charges and one misdemeanor charge.
