Store Evacuated, Closed

UPDATED: 10:05 pm EST March 4, 2007

A Wal-Mart Supercenter in Palm Coast, Fla., was closed this weekend after police said a man and woman set a fire in the sporting goods section, causing a propane tank to explode, according to a Local 6 News report.

Flagler sheriff's deputies said a man with long hair and baseball cap and a woman were videotaped inside the Wal-Mart at about 6 p.m. Saturday.

Surveillance video showed the pair kissing before a fire sparked in the store.

After a propane tank exploded, smoke filled the building and customers and employees were evacuated.

Deputies said the man can be seen starting the fire along with a woman, a news release said.

"We are told it was possibly some type of camping fuel (used to start the fire,)" Local 6's Samantha Knapp said. "Whether they brought that inside with them or whether or not they found it in one of the many isles here and hatched the plan inside the store (is not known)."

The fire marshal said the woman inside the store had long auburn hair and was wearing a white sweater and dark pants. The couple is believed to be in their mid 30s.

Anyone with information concerning this crime is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
