COCOA, Fla. -- A "suspicious" death of a Cocoa woman hours before her divorce was to be finalized has prompted officers to question her estranged husband, Local 6 News has learned.
Emergency crews responded to a 911 call from Silvester Walker concerning a problem with his wife, Toni Marie, at their home on Edinburgh Drive in Cocoa.
When crews arrived, the mother of three was not breathing, police said.
Authorities did not report how the woman died, but said the death was considered suspicious.
Neighbors told police that the couple had filed for divorce and it was supposed to be finalized Wednesday.
Investigators said officers have responded to domestic violence calls at the house in the past. In fact, Walker was charged but the charges were later dropped, police told Local 6 News.
Police said they will continue questioning Walker Wednesday, along with other family members.
Anyone with information concerning this crime is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
