DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Authorities in Daytona Beach are searching for four men who police said grabbed a visiting coed on spring break, dragged her to a beach and then tried to rape her.
Investigators said the group of men apparently stalked the woman when she left the Razzle's club near AIA in Daytona Beach Tuesday night.
"She was forced into the vehicle by the males and driven to an undetermined beach approach here in the city, where they attempted to engage her in some sexual activity," a police representative told Local 6's Tarik Minor.
Police said the girl fought off the attackers at the beach, returned to her hotel room and called 911.
The incident has caused concern among spring breakers.
"I would say don't go anywhere by yourself," tourist Amanda Ruben said. "We came with 10 girls and we would not be anywhere alone."
"Some girls could get out of hand and not think about the bad things and do what they think is right," spring break visitor Cherese Baldwin said. "But, it is not always right and I think they need to think positive sometimes and worry about what will happen when they wake up or where will they be at the end of the night."
Police are searching for a blue sedan in connection with the incident.
Anyone with information concerning the incident is urged to call Daytona Beach police.
