MALABAR, Fla. -- A man and woman were arrested in Brevard County, accused by police of drugging, beating and stabbing a man in the presence of children.

Christopher Alan Tips, 25, of Palm Bay, and Larissa Marie Rothery, 21, of Malabar, were arrested after Brevard County sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 call on Friday.

Tips was charged with attempted felony murder and two counts of child abuse. Rothery was charged with domestic violence, attempted felony murder and two counts of child abuse.

According to a sheriff's report, Rothery and Tips, who were having an affair, went into Rothery's husband's bedroom and attacked him using a box cutter and metal pipe.

The unidentified victim was transported to Holmes Regional Hospital in stable condition, sheriff's deputies said.

The beating and stabbing took place in front of children, whose ages were not disclosed, according to deputies. The children are now in the custody of their grandparents, Brevard County sheriff's deputies said.

Tips and Rothery were being held in the Brevard County Jail on no bond.
