ORLANDO, Fla. -- The severed head of a 64-year-old man was left at an Orlando church in what was an apparent plan by his wife and her alleged lover to cover the crime, according to Local 6 News.
The body of Renaldo Cruz, 64, was found inside his car at Kingsgate and Queen Anne Drive Sunday afternoon.
Investigators said that Cruz's wife, Juanita Torres-Labawald, 56, and another man, George Moya, 31, were arrested and charged with murder.
Detectives believe the pair killed Cruz at his home after he returned home from work as a security guard at Wal-Mart, Local 6 News reported.
Cruz's body was reportedly found with several stab wounds.
"Mr. Cruz's head was also severed from his body," Orange County Sheriff's Office spokesman John Allen. "The head was placed in a plastic bag and the bag was placed in a box and the box was left at the doorstep of a church. We think the head was severed with a knife and also prunning shears may have been used," Allen said.
Authorities recovered the head from the New Life Church of Orlando where Cruz, his wife and Moya reportedly attended.
A note accusing a church member was also found with the head, according to Local 6 News.
Moya denies the charges.
