ORLANDO, Fla. -- World War II bombs and old munitions were recently discovered near a Central Florida middle school.
Three live bombs found near Odyssey Middle School in southeast Orange County were detonated two weeks ago, and at least 1,000 unknown pieces of metal were discovered in the area.
Local 6 News reported that the metal were pieces of small firearms, high-explosive bombs and air-to-ground rockets, and more unknown pieces are likely in a nearby area.
The school was constructed on property that used to be owned by the military, which used it as a practice range.
School officials said they will teach students to recognize, retreat and report if they were to find any suspicious devices.
The school will distribute material to parents about the incident, Local 6 News reported.
