A Central Florida man was hospitalized Tuesday night after a pit bull bit into his face during an attack inside a pet store.
Richard Barbour said he went into the Pet Supermarket store on West Colonial Drive in Orlando Tuesday and tried to pet a pit bull inside the business.
The dog jumped at him, biting his face and arm.
"I asked the dog owner if it was a friendly dog and he said, 'yes,'" Barbour said. "And I pet the dog and it wagged its tail and appeared friendly. (Then) just all at once, it changed its attitude and changed its mood and bit me in the face and bit me on the arm."
Barbour was transported to a hospital where he received stitches in his face and arm.
Pet Supermarket requires all animals in the store be on a leash with a human present.
In this case, the dog was on a leach and its owner tried to stop the attack, Barbour said.
The pit bull was taken by Orange County Animal Services. Officials were still trying to determine if the owner will face any charges in connection with the incident.
"It happened so quick," Barbour said. "You can't believe how quick it happened."
